Call for Letters of Interest – AZ SWANA Board of Directors
The Arizona Chapter of SWANA is committed to meeting the evolving needs of our members by promoting education, innovation, professional development, and collaboration throughout the solid waste industry. We accomplish this by offering educational programs, general membership meetings, networking opportunities, and encouraging active participation in our committees and Chapter leadership.
The AZ SWANA Board of Directors is currently accepting Letters of Interest from members interested in serving on the Board. We are seeking candidates to fill upcoming vacant Director-at-Large positions for the upcoming 2026–2027 Board term.
Director Responsibilities
The Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the Arizona Chapter and is responsible for overseeing the Chapter's operations, finances, strategic direction, and membership. Board members are expected to:
Attend monthly Board of Directors meetings held at various locations throughout Arizona.
Actively participate in Board discussions, committees, and Chapter initiatives.
Support and, when applicable, assist in planning and coordinating Chapter events such as the Annual Symposium, Road-E-O, golf tournament, membership meetings, educational workshops, and other special events.
Represent the interests of the Chapter and promote the mission of SWANA throughout Arizona.
In accordance with Article VI, Sections 6.1 and 6.2 of the Chapter Bylaws, the Nominating Committee has been established to review qualified candidates and recommend a slate of officers and Directors. The recommended candidates will be presented to the membership for election at the AZ SWANA Annual Meeting on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Caterpillar Proving Ground in Green Valley, Arizona.
How to Apply
Members interested in serving on the Board should submit the following by August 7, 2026:
A Letter of Interest
A current résumé
A brief statement of support from your immediate supervisor acknowledging your ability to serve as an AZ SWANA Board member
